Dr. Angela Bisignano
Welcome to my website and to my practice! I am a licensed clinical psychologist and coach practicing in the South Bay of Los Angeles County, serving the communities of Palos Verdes Peninsula, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach and beyond.
My aim in my practice is to restore peace, wholeness and wellbeing to my clients. I do this by helping people who are hurting and heartbroken. I provide tools and resources to change lives, help people experience hope, and live happy, productive and fulfilling lives. I believe anyone can get better and live a meaningful life. I am passionate about coming alongside of people, helping them to create lives they love. My job to me as a psychologist is a calling, something that brings me great joy, excitement and fulfillment.
The journey to becoming a psychologist wasn’t clear cut for me. I started out studying theater arts and film at the University of California Los Angeles. It was in the drama department where I discovered my intrigue and fascination with human behavior and motivation. I loved delving into the characters I was portraying. I wondered with deep curiosity what made those characters “tick.” Why do people do what they do? It was this hunger to know that sent me on a quest to better understand just why people think, feel and behave the way that they do.
Education and Training
After graduating from the University of California Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree, I continued on with my education. My love of people and interest in the church paved the way for me getting a master’s degree in Ministry from Pepperdine University. Recognizing that I still held a keen fascination for psychology I embarked on my doctorate. Today I hold a master’s degree and a doctorate in clinical psychology from Fielding Graduate University, a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). I am licensed by the state of California, PSY 26894.
Part of my education and training included getting a doctoral level certification in Health Psychology, a specialization combining biology and health with psychology. I completed a health dissertation research project at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Partnering with the Starbright Foundation in Los Angeles, I developed an intervention for dealing with anxiety, stress and fear. My research has been published in both peer-reviewed and other psychological journals. My training also includes level I, level II and level III in Gottman Couples Therapy.
As an active member of the psychological community I have worked in community mental health, hospital, church, crisis and private practice settings.

The healing and recovery process is vital to psychological well being. When our hearts are healed and our lives are free we are ready to go on and embrace all that we can be. This part of well being speaks to the coach in me. I love helping people step into the next phase of life and well being. I love it so much I wrote a book about it entitled, Beautifully Gifted. The book is about empowering women in their gifts, talents and calling. I speak and lead workshops on various topics related to the book. In addition, I am also the author of numerous journal articles. I continue to write for journals and my practice blog.
Being married for twenty-seven years has given me great perspective and insight that truly enhances and enlightens my practice. My husband and I have raised two sons in the south bay of Los Angeles where we still reside. Our oldest son is a graduate from the University of Southern California. Our youngest son will be attending the University of Southern California beginning in the Fall of 2017. Both of our sons are Eagle Scouts.
Being a mother is one of life’s greatest rewards. My boys continue to teach me what matters most in life. I love their spirit of adventure, curiosity and sense of wonder. My boys have taught me to laugh and to not take myself too serious. More than anything they have taught me how to love and the grace of humility. They have taught me about a God who loves each one of us unconditionally and has a plan and purpose for our lives.
I grew up in Malibu, California. The beach culture resonates with my heart. The calm of the sea brings me peace and serenity. The ocean in some way will probably always be part of my life. In my leisure I love taking our dogs, “Lucy” and “Eli”out on the trails, walks on the beach, exercising, traveling and having deep conversations with friends. I attend a community church located on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
