Marriage Therapy

Are you tired of arguing, being romantically disappointed or hurt? If you are experiencing any of these things you may be feeling deep sadness, anger, resentment or loneliness. Struggling marriages are far too common these days. If you are committed to a life of marriage together it takes a lot of work and effort to keep it healthy and happy.

We all grow up in different families being modeled various love styles, communication and behavior. It is no wonder that we experience challenges with our spouses. The good news is that there is help and hope for your marriage. Dr. Bisignano’s focus in working with married couples is to understand relationship patterns, attachment styles, to improve communication and problem solving skills, increasing empathy and emotional connection with one another.

According to research, many couples wait on average 6 or 7 years before entering into counseling. Often by the time couples reach a therapist’s office their relationship is operating under a great deal of distress. What this means is that marriage therapy can take time. Consider that it probably took quite a few years for you to arrive at this place in your marriage. There is hope that help is available and with time and dedication things can turn around for the good for you and your spouse.

How Dr. Bisignano Works With Couples

You will all meet together for the first session at Dr. Bisignano’s office in Palos Verdes or Manhattan Beach. The first session with married couples lasts approximately 60 minutes. If she believes she can be helpful to you and your spouse, you will schedule a second appointment. During the second and third appointments she will meet with each of you individually for approximately 45 minutes. During the fourth meeting you will all reconvene at which time you will discuss your treatment goals and come up with a plan that you all agree upon. Going on from here, you will all meet together for future sessions, although Dr. Bisignano might ask for an individual meeting with one or both of you if she thinks it is appropriate and can be helpful.

Most couples come to therapy because they want to restore their relationships. Dr. Bisignano tries to offer ways for healing, encouragement, and hope. She is passionate about working with couples. She feels like if she can help save a marriage, you can also model to your children ways to handle relationship hardships and distress. In so doing, they can see there are constructive ways to deal with troubled relationships. If you are able to do this you can also impact generations to come. Dr. Bisignano loves this model for healing and restoration.

Dr. Bisignano takes a collaborative approach with her marriage clients, however she is directive in her process; she doesn’t just sit and listen. Dr. Bisignano offers and utilizes the most effective strategies, teaches skills, and helps clients to regain trust and confidence in their spouses. If your marriage is in trouble and you need help, please call her for a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation at (424) 206-9055. Dr. Bisignano can answer any other questions you may have.
