Couples Relationship Assessment
A relationship assessment with Dr. Bisignano is a comprehensive science-based process to discover needed areas of growth, development and improvement in your relationship. Couples can have a relationship assessment done at any point, whether they are dating, engaged, newlywed, married with children, or empty nesters. If you believe there are areas that can be improved upon, a relationship assessment is the perfect next step.
What to expect in a Relationship Assessment
Initial Interview Session
First, you and your spouse will meet with Dr. Bisignano together. She will find out a lot about your relationship. She wants to understand what it is about you and your spouse that brought you together and desire to share a life together. She will ask questions about the story of your relationship. Some of the questions she will ask:
- Where did you meet?
- What attracted you to one another?
- How did you decide to marry?
- Do you have children?
- What have been some of the good times in your relationship?
- What have been some of the more challenging times?
Once you have met with Dr. Bisignano, she will then have you complete an assessment. An assessment is like a questionnaire or a self-report. There are no right or wrong answers. It is completed online. It is private, secure and confidential. You don’t share your results with your partner.
Individual Interview Sessions
The second and third sessions are individual sessions with Dr. Bisignano. Each of you will meet with her one-on-one. She will then ask you questions, like:
- Where were you born and raised?
- What was your family like?
- Tell me about other relationships?
- Have you experienced difficult or distressing events in your life?
Once all of the interview sessions and the assessments are complete, Dr. Bisignano will do an in-depth analysis of your relationship. You will then meet altogether where she will provide the results of your relationship assessment.
Dr. Bisignano’s assessment includes a specific treatment plan tailored to your unique relationship dynamics, strengths and growth areas. A treatment plan is like a roadmap that gives you and your partner a clear direction for getting your relationship back on track for deeper emotional connection, healthier communication and greater intimacy. Dr. Bisignano uses research and science-based interventions for all of her work.
At this point, you and your partner can make an informed decision on the best course of action for your relationship, which may include couples therapy or intensive couples therapy with Dr. Bisignano in her office or via telehealth in the comfort of your own environment.
